ABOUT THE EDITOR

Hi, I'm September Herrin.
I help authors put their best work forward.

I am a book editor specializing in line and developmental editing. I primarily work with indie authors, small presses, and professionals who write.

When it comes to fiction, I have eclectic taste and am open to most genres. I have ample experience in contemporary fiction, urban fiction, horror, mysteries, speculative fiction, and thrillers.

As for nonfiction, much of my experience lies in the wellness industry including mindfulness, hypnosis, and plant-based lifestyle. I also love working on memoirs.

I'm a novelist myself, so I understand the challenges we face in completing long-form works. I treat each and every client's project with empathy and respect.

In addition to my work as a book editor, I served on the Board of Governors for the Editorial Freelancers Association and  belong to the Northwest Editors Guild. I am the founder and Editor-in-Chief at Weird Lit Magazine, a quarterly literary magazine. I am also the founder of Sasquatch Club, a Seattle-based writing collective. I am a graduate of the Certificate in Editing program at University of Washington and frequently attend classes and events at Seattle's renowned Hugo House.
